Candidates, Oxford, Sharpton

Those of us in Mississippi have been reminded all week that our state will host the first Presidential Debate on Friday at the University of Mississippi in Oxford. The CL has a lot of information on various issues concerning the debate on its main page. The local news stations have different features each night. For a few days our state will get a lot of national attention.

The TV was on last night as we were in the den waiting for the kids to go to sleep, and I noticed a story come on a segment on Fox News about a note that was sent out discussing the "invisible" presence of the KKK on the Ole Miss campus this Friday. Then they brought in Al Sharpton to comment.

Al Sharpton? That's like asking Satan to offer his opinion on the danger of sin. Or Donald Trump to talk about how to stay married to one woman. Or our former president talking about lying under oath and defining "is."

I would have listened carefully had they had someone like John Perkins or Dolphus Weary. But Al Sharpton? I didn't get it. Neither does he.
